Description

Unlock the potential of your smartphone camera as we explore Northampton’s vibrant town centre. This practical workshop introduces you to key techniques for photographing urban environments, including framing, leading lines, symmetry, reflections, and capturing movement.
As we walk through the town, you’ll learn how to use architecture, street details, and historic landmarks to create striking images that tell a story.
Ideal for anyone interested in creative photography, this session will help you confidently capture the character and history of urban spaces using the device you carry every day. Please note this workshop is weather permitting. In the event of poor weather, the session will continue with adapted activities held indoors.

What will I learn?
Discover how to take stunning photos using just your smartphone while reconnecting with the world around you. This workshop encourages being active and creative, exploring the nature-space, whilst learning photography on your smartphone. At the end of the workshop, participants will be able to exercise control over their smartphone’s camera in an outdoor/daylight setting along with applying foundational principles of composition and aesthetics to their photography. Learners will also be able to edit their images using in-camera controls and create a thematic picture set. The workshop is set at an introductory level and invites participants to enjoy the benefits of being active and creative in an outdoor setting, document and explore the nature-space using the smartphone’s camera, edit individual pictures and compile a thematic view-set of their images.
